Cannabis Decarboxylation

Share:

To get the full potential of the psychoactive effect of cannabis, it must be decarboxylated. Untreated cannabis contains lots of THCA, this is not psychoactive, so it does not make you high. If the cannabis is heated e.g. By a flame or a vaporizer, the THCA becomes THC by the heat and thus psychoactive. So if you want to cook with the maximum psychoactive effect of cannabis, you have to decarboxylate it.

Tip: When it comes to decarboxylation, it means little heat and long process time. The THC and Terpenes content is reduced by too high temperatures. (Terpenes read more)

What you need

Flowers or trim

Backplate

Baking Paper

How to Decarboxylate

  1. Preheat your oven to 115 ° C (less is possible, but then it takes longer).
  2. For Trim: Shred your cannabis with the hands (coarse pieces).
  3. For flowers: Reduce your cannabis with a grinder, knife or similar.
  4. Place the cannabis on a baking tray, which should be laid out with baking paper.
  5. Bake the cannabis for 10-40 minutes depending on the amount. Stir it every 10 minutes.
  6. If the cannabis is darker, slightly brown and dried, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool down (it should crumble easily when you touch it).
  7. Trim: Reduce the cannabis until it is quite fine (you do not want a fine powder).
  8. Now you can use it for extracts like cannabutter.
